Anxiety and Panic Attacks

Everyone will experience feelings of anxiety and worry many times throughout their lifetime. For example, you may feel worried or anxious about a job interview, something going on at work, getting the results from a medical test, money worries, getting married or a problem in a relationship. Feelings of worry and anxiety are perfectly normal reactions to the daily pressures of life. However, for some people, these feelings of worry or anxiety can become intrusive in their lives, and may begin to affect them on a daily basis.
The NHS estimate that approximately 1 in 50 people will suffer with generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) at some point during their lifetime.
It is a long-term condition that can make you feel anxious about a very wide range of issues, rather than your anxiety or fear relating to one specific issue. You may find that you are anxious most days and may not be able to remember the last time you were able to properly relax.

Anxiety and Panic Attacks

If you are suffering more intense anxiety or panic for maybe no apparent reason and this feels totally out of your control and can sometimes feel like you are on the brink of having a heart attack then you are probably experiencing a ‘panic attack’ and you will, no doubt, understand how frightening and terrifying they can be and because of their unpredictable and uncontrollable nature, it also means that  just the fear of another one happening can escalate and be enough to bring on an attack as the sufferer is locked in a continuous cycle of panic.

There are also many diagnosable conditions for which anxiety is the main symptom. For example, panic disorder, phobias and post- traumatic syndrome. The content on this page will be equally relevant for someone who has one of these conditions, so please do CONTACT US at Cardiff Thrive for a chat if you have any questions.

TESTIMONIAL

After suffering the debilitating effects of anxiety for years, I really was desperate for help…and along came Simon! I was doubtful after years of failed attempts through counselling, hypnotherapy and reading endless books, that anybody could ʻreallyʼ rid me of the anxiety that I had come to feel was an integral part of me.
After just two sessions I started to notice a real difference in the way I thought about things. I began to deal with and do things that would have been impossible to do a few weeks earlier.
The techniques that Simon has taught me have now become an integral part of me instead…and positive, helpful thoughts finally win the day!!

I cannot emphasise enough what a positive impact going to see Simon has made on my life and that of my loved ones. I feel confident, relaxed and I actually look forward to things instead of the usual dread of the ʻwhat ifʼ thoughts and the constant catastrophising. Simon showed me that I had the power to change my thought processes and that I had the control. Iʼd never even had a glimpse of such change after weekly counselling sessions for over three years. Simon explained to me why I thought the way I did – and he gave me the all important techniques that showed me I have the power to control my own thoughts and my own life.

Seeing Simon is one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I really was at the end of my tether and now, I can finally face things positively and have genuine confidence in my abilities…and thatʼs a sentence I never thought Iʼd say!
After reading the testimonials from other emetophobes I immediately looked to find a Thrive consultant in my area and came across Simon and I am so glad I did.

Thanks Simon ,  Beth (Cardiff)

Ongoing and Pervasive Issues with Anxiety

•    Have you found that anxiety is having a limiting or daily effect upon your life?
•    Suffering from or think you may be having panic attacks?
•    Worried all the time and don’t understand why?

If the answer to any of the above is yes, then you would benefit most from going through the full Thrive Programme with me which is a unique, research based and self empowering psychological training programme which, as well as aiming to help you to detect, understand and then change any unhelpful thoughts, habits or behaviours that you might have developed in regard to your presenting anxiety, also aims to help and empower you to re-build/create strong psychological and emotional foundations and form an unshakeable robustness that will enable you to cope with whatever life throws at you.

And unlike other therapies and treatments which just try to help you to relax, throw coping techniques at you and expect you to do them with no explanation given as to why they will work, or just learn to live with your symptoms, I can help you by teaching you how to finally take control and power over your anxiety once and for all!
